Dr. Maxime Caru presents research on the Pediatric Cancer Physical Activity Program supported by Four Diamonds.Four Diamonds child Cayden and Dr. Maxime Caru recently joined FOX43 to showcase the Pediatric Cancer Physical Activity Program at Penn State Health Golisano Children’s Hospital and how movement is becoming an important part of care for children facing cancer.

Supported by Four Diamonds, the program uses individualized movement, games and strength-building exercises to help children stay active throughout their cancer journey. Designed around each child’s abilities, diagnosis and treatment stage, the program can help build strength and endurance, reduce fatigue, support mental health and give children a greater sense of confidence and control.

The program is available at no cost to Four Diamonds families and is informed by the work of Dr. Caru, a Four Diamonds-supported researcher and assistant professor at Penn State College of Medicine whose research explores how physical activity can improve physical function, quality of life and other outcomes for children and adolescents facing cancer.
