The setting is outdoors with trees and a grass field in the background.During Volunteer Week, we recognize the individuals and communities who give their time, energy and passion to support Four Diamonds. Community fundraisers play a vital role in this impact, turning personal passions into meaningful action that supports children and families facing childhood cancer.

Kick Cancer to the Dirt is one powerful example of how a shared love for something as simple as tennis can bring people together to make a lasting difference.

A Tournament Rooted in Purpose

Kick Cancer to the Dirt is an annual tennis tournament that raises funds for Four Diamonds. Over the past ten years, the event has raised more than $150,000 to support children and families facing childhood cancer.

Inspired by their shared love of tennis and a desire to give back, Kristin and Ariff created the tournament to make a meaningful impact on their community.

Held over Memorial Day weekend, the two-day tournament brings players together for men’s and women’s doubles on Saturday and mixed doubles on Sunday. In between matches, participants and spectators enjoy food, yard games and time spent together, creating a welcoming and community-centered atmosphere.

Honoring Andrea's Legacy and Inspiration

The idea to support Four Diamonds came from their close friend and fellow tennis player, Andrea. While undergoing her own cancer treatment, Andrea saw children facing cancer and encouraged Kristin and Ariff to support Four Diamonds.

Andrea passed away before the first tournament took place. The Four Diamonds child who inspired her also lost her life to cancer. Today, the tournament is held in their memory, ensuring their stories continue to inspire hope, compassion and action.

Why Four Diamonds

Kristin and Ariff chose to support Four Diamonds because they believe every child deserves the chance to grow up and live a full life.

They are especially inspired by the organization’s commitment to covering the cost of care for families, allowing them to focus on what matters most: their child’s health.

A Community United on the Court

More than 150 participants come together to play tennis and support a shared cause. While many take to the court, others help organize the event, prepare food or support the event through donations.

For many, participation is deeply personal. Most attendees have been affected by cancer in some way, and the tournament offers a space to turn those experiences into something positive.

Kristin and Ariff shared, “If they know a child who went through cancer, they are the first to get involved because they’ve seen the difference Four Diamonds made in their lives.”

Making a Lasting Impact

What began as a small, local tennis tournament has grown into a powerful example of community-driven impact.

“Every little bit can make a difference, and when you add them all up, you get a big impact,” said Kristin.

Kristin and Ariff remain honored to support the mission and share the story of Four Diamonds. As Ariff shared, “Everyone is here because they know it’s going to make a difference. We’re all helping our own local community.”
